Fixing it Forward: TB Quality Construction

Partnered with a non-profit called Fix it Forward In Molalla, Oregon, Tim Bancke the owner of TB Quality Construction, is focused on improving homes for those in need in Clackamas County.

The organization’s founders, “want to take basically no money or very little money and turn it just in to a lot through the donations of companies like Malarkey Roofing, TB Quality Construction, and many others. No corporate officers drawing salaries and so forth; every penny goes into the project,” said Bancke.

“This is the first year I have participated with the program,” said Bancke of the application process. “The choosing of the house is based primarily on the warranted need.”

Earlier this month, Bancke and his crew found a project home in rough shape, where the homeowner did not have the means to make the necessary repairs. Bancke said that it had been leaking so long that nearly all the roof decking is rotted had to be replaced as well.

“We did tear-off and replaced all the sheeting despite the rain; the weatherman can’t stop us,” said Bancke. Malarkey donated the necessary materials for the project, comprising of 25 shingle squares, 10 rolls of Arctic Seal®, 2 rolls of Secure Start™ underlayment, as well as starter and ridge shingles.

Recruiting volunteers though local contractors, social media, and local churches, approximately 40 people volunteered to help repair the home in one day. In addition to the roof and gutter work, the home’s repairs included:

  • Bathroom renovation including a new floor, ceiling, toilet and paint.
  • New vinyl flooring and base
  • New ceiling and paint in the kitchen
  • Exterior paint
  • Landscaping
  • Debris removal and yard clean up

“Our thanks to everyone at Malarkey Roofing who have made stuff like this possible for some many years,” said Bancke.
